Directional strength

Dik-bala

Jyotiṣa’s compass of planetary strength by direction.

Classical Jyotiṣa assigns directional strength (dik-bala): Jupiter and Mercury toward the east, Sun and Mars south, Moon and Venus north, and Saturn west.

This is a strength doctrine associated with angular houses, not an ancient form of modern astrocartography. Meridian presents it as a compass beside the geographic line systems without pretending the traditions are identical.

The implementation follows a documented linear falloff toward the opposite direction. Its language is original and its classical basis is cited in the source register.
